2012 Audi R8 Cars Gallery

Sunday, October 31, 2010 | 0 comments

Audi’s R8 supercar has caused quite a stir with its V8 and V10 gas variants, but Audi thought it would change things around by adding a V12 diesel into the mix for good measure. This R8 concept car deviates wildly from traditional gas-powered sports cars, but with a race-proven turbocharged diesel it might be one of the most promising exotic concept cars ever created.

Power for the concept comes from the automakers race-derived 6.0 liter V12 diesel motor, which was first used in the R10 Le Mans competition car, and is now available in the Audi Q7. The engine produces 500 horsepower and 738 pound-feet of torque. The peak torque, reached at only 1,750 rpm.

The car sprints to 62 mph in 4.2 seconds, according to Audi. Like most German automakers, Audi is probably reporting a very conservative acceleration time for this car.

Other highlights of the show car include a glass roof, an increased use of carbon fiber, revised front and rear aprons, and larger air intakes all around.

The car also features all-LED headlights, which are visually very appealing, not to mention very energy efficient and bright. With a color temperature of 6,000 Kelvin, the light emitted resembles daylight much more closely than xenon or even halogen light.

Earlier reports suggested that Audi would equip the R8 with a diesel engine for the 2009 model year, but the latest word is that the TDI R8 may never make it into production. Audi engineers are reporting that fitting the turbochargers into the allotted space is proving impossible, and the costs associated with making it fit would make it impossible for Audi to ever turn a profit from a TDI R8.

Does this mean the R8 lineup will eventually include V8, V10, and V12 powerplants? It’s too soon to know for sure, but we can hope.

Honda RA300

The Honda RA300 was a Formula One racing car produced by Honda Racing, and introduced halfway through the 1967 Formula One season. It retained the same V12 engine as the preceding RA273 car, but the chassis was designed by Lola's Eric Broadley and based on a previous Lola Indianapolis 500 car. This collaboration resulted in the machine being quickly dubbed the Hondola by the motorsports press.

Broadley's chassis was much lighter and sweeter handling than the previous in-house design. The car initially performed impressively, winning in its first ever World Championship race at the 1967 Italian Grand Prix. Driver John Surtees took the lead from Jim Clark's Lotus and Jack Brabham's Brabham on the final lap, after Clark ran out of fuel and Brabham ran wide. However, the RA300 flattered to deceive, and this would turn out to be the only lap that an RA300 would lead, and it never again took a World Championship victory. It remains the only F1 car ever to take its single victory in its very first Grand Prix, and on the only lap it would ever lead.

The remainder of the 1967 season saw Surtees collect only three more points, with a fourth place at the 1967 Mexican Grand Prix. The car was superseded in the following season by the Honda RA301, a design closely based on the RA300. However, this did not improve Honda's results, Surtees only managing to finish four of the season's twelve events.

On display at the IAA exhibition in Frankfurt, 2007.

The 48-valve V12 Honda first appeared at the 1966 Italian GP driven by Richie Ginther (USA). In spite of weighing 740 kg (dry) it was capable of spinning the rear tyres at 100 mph in third gear. With cylinder dimensions of 78.0 x 52.2 mm 2,993.17 cc, a target of 400-440 bhp @ 12,000 rpm was quoted. The engine used by John Surtees at the 1967 Italian GP was quoted by Motoring News as developing only 396 bhp, but with improved torque and response. The vehicle weight excess over the 500 kg minimum had been approximately halved.

If you prefer to draw your inspiration from 1950s Stuttgart, look no further than The Tygan Motor Company who have been producing their gorgeous “Speedster” 356 replica since acquiring the project from Chesil. The car oozed retro charm with white-wall tyres, lashings of chrome and an immaculate cream leather interior. It was surely one of the prettiest vehicles on show, with fabulous attention to detail and a high level of finish. Mechanically speaking, the trusty VW Beetle base is used; with a range of engines options available from a standard 1300cc Vee-dub unit to a 3.2 litre 911 engine. Prices start at £3,950 for the basic kit and the total build costs are estimated at around £25,000. The company says they have big plans for expansion in the near future, including the release of a Porsche 550 Spider replica and rumours of an entirely new

Rogale!

Here they are in all their beauty, Rogale.  I bought these this morning in Kandulski's.  Don't they look good?  Delicious!

I picked up the flowers from cousin Maryla's for Golina and she gave me a wreath to put on the grave of our mutual great grandmother and great aunt.  I passed by 3 cemetaries on the way and they were filled with people and the police were everywhere directing traffic.  I'm getting excited about tomorrow's trip.

Oto one w całej ich urody, Rogale. Kupiłem te dziś rano w Kandulski's. Czy oni nie wyglądają dobrze? Pyszne!

Podniosłem kwiaty od kuzyna Maryli do Golina i dała mi wieniec postawić na grobie naszego wspólnego wielkiego babcia i ciotka świetnie. Minąłem 3 cmentarze na drodze i były pełne ludzi i policji były wszędzie kierowania ruchem. Dostaję podekscytowani jutrzejszym podróży.

Sacramento Mountain Lions and Lincoln Brewster

I've wanted to go to a Sacramento Mountain Lions for awhile now, but never took the time to buy a ticket and go.  With Bayside selling tickets and Lincoln Brewster performing at the pre-game "Fan Fest" and at half-time I decided to attend.  Weather and the World Series seemed to take quite a few people away from Hornet Stadium, but it was still a lot of fun to hang out with a former co-worker who now works for the PR firm in charge of the Mountain Lions, see Lincoln Brewster (from a lot closer than I am used to) and of course watch some football.  Although the Mountain Lions lost in the last seconds of the game, I enjoyed the atmosphere, the Frisbee catching dogs, being on the field for the concert, hanging with the Chick-Fil-A cows, the fireworks, seeing Denzel Washington and the enthusiasm of the fans.  Here's to hoping that tonight's game will not be my last.

"It's My Mall" - Roseville Galleria

Saturday, October 30, 2010 | 0 comments

Today marked the first full weekend that the Roseville Galleria has been open since the fire that destroyed or damaged a large portion of it.  Although more than half of the stores remain closed, many more seem to open daily and people are returning too.  Many have said that the mall is not just a place of commerce, but is a place that helps build a sense of community.

Today Westfield hosted a community spirit day with a Halloween event for children, stores handed out candy to customers and mall representatives allowed community members to write inspirational quotes on the new (semi-permanent) wall that separates the open part of the mall from the closed portion. After getting my free "It's my mall" t-shirt (this time they remembered to thank the Roseville PD, they "forgot" in last Sunday's Sacramento Bee ad), I took a walk to the far corner of the parking lot to look at all the restoration semi trucks. For now the closest thing to seeing the restoration in progress is looking at the trucks in the parking lot, but one day I hope that the media is allowed inside to see the damage and show how restoration crews do their jobs.

G3 Trailer

Alright! Another Transformers Optimus Prime G3 Trailer added into my collection! This is third party company item, meaning it's not official Hasbro nor TakaraTomy product. If I am correct this item is manufactured in HK by Parallax(?) I bought it on a Hobby Online store for around BND$100++.

Optimus Prime is my all time favorite Transformer character and anything to do with him, I will not let it go pass by. This Trailer will fit my Henkei Transformer Optimus Prime or Convoy (C-01). The item is pretty high in quality. Comes with all the accessories. Check it out!

The trailer can transformed into a Battle Station just like the G1 version

Soon, I will have them "mated"
