ABT Sportsline Presents its Tune on the 2012 Audi A6 Sedan

ABT Sportsline has released details on its first tuning operation performed on the latest generation Audi A6. The German aftermarket specialist proposes a series of power upgrades and a fairly cosmetic make up with various aero parts and new alloy wheel options.

Starting with the diesel tunes, the ABT Power package adds 37 ponies to the standard 245 horsepower developed by the 3.0-liter TDI engine, for a total of 282HP. The ABT Power S package lifts performance even further, to 310 horsepower, thanks to the mounting of an additional turbocharger. In the Power S version, peak torque reaches 610 Nm (450 lb-ft), up 100 Nm (74 lb-ft) from standard specification.

ABT Sportsline engineers are also working on an upgrade for the 3.0-liter supercharged V6 gasoline engine, which will develop 410 horsepower when it's ready, up from the standard model’s 300HP.

The tuning company also offers a body kit that brings subtle modifications to the standard Audi A6, such as revised front and rear bumpers, discreet side skirts, new wheel types and a wraparound boot lid spoiler. ABT’s trademark four tailpipes integrated in the rear bumper are also part of the package.

"For us the A6 is an extravagant, straight-forward car, which doesn’t show off yet also doesn’t hide away. It is just the perfect choice for our demanding customers," states Hans-Jürgen Abt, CEO of ABT Sportsline.

The light alloy wheels proposed for the Audi A6 vary between 19 and 21 inches in size and are especially designed for the large sedan. ABT Sportsline didn't offer any details about top speed or acceleration data on its upgraded A6 versions.

Geneva 2011: ABT Carves a 620HP Beast out the Audi R8 V10 Spyder

At last year's Geneva motor show, VW Group specialist ABT unveiled a 600HP version of the Audi R8 V10 Spyder. The German tuning house returned to this year's edition of the Swiss show with an updated tune on Ingolstadt's flagship roadster model featuring 620 ponies and a red and black styling theme.

On the outside, ABT's R8 GT S gets a red paint finish contrasted by the use of carbon fiber parts in the middle section of the car. The front skirt, rear skirt, windscreen frame cover, red air scoops and the engine compartment are all made of carbon fiber, which is said to help reduce the car's weight by an unspecified amount. The sports car also rides on a new set of wheels, available in 19-inch or 20-inch sizes.

The same red and black color theme is continued in the interior which also boasts numerous carbon fiber parts including the dashboard and door trims.

Under the body, a performance kit that includes a sports exhaust system lifts the 5.2-liter V10's output from 525Hp to 620HP allowing the R8 GT S to complete the standard 0-100km/h (62mph) sprint in 3.6 seconds and reach a top speed of 320 km/h (199mph). A more taut suspension system completes the package.
